Sažetak
As a form of sustainable tourism policy, local-level souvenir production represents an important component in reducing the environmental impact associated with large-scale production and transportation of souvenirs, while simultaneously contributing to the preservation of local culture and generating economic benefits for local communities. This approach thereby becomes a key element of sustainable destination management. Despite the importance of this topic, it remains under-researched in the scientific literature and insufficiently recognized by tourism policy-makers, highlighting an evident research and practical gap in the existing body of literature on sustainable destination management. This scoping review provides an overview and analysis of the current empirical knowledge regarding local souvenir production and its role in achieving tourism sustainability at the destination level. The PRISMA flow diagram has been employed to illustrate the process of literature search and selection for this analysis.
