Sažetak

A significant body of literature emphasizes that knowledge management (KM) is crucial in the global economy and is becoming increasingly important for the competitiveness of both large corporations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). KM is defined as a systematic approach to creating, sharing, and exploiting knowledge within and around enterprises. The aim of this paper was to identify, analyze, and synthesize existing studies on KM in SMEs. A thematic literature review was conducted. The results are organized into the following topics: a) Knowledge about knowledge management in SMEs; b) Dedicated knowledge management processes in SMEs; c) Knowledge acquisition in SMEs based on agile methodology; d) Knowledge utilization in SMEs based on a recommender system; e) Knowledge management and its effects on business operations; f) Challenges of knowledge management in SMEs; g) Impact of knowledge management on SME performance; h) Scientific research on knowledge management tools; and i) The synergistic relationship between big data and knowledge management in SMEs. These topics are valuable to consider when developing effective KM strategies and practices tailored to the specific context of SMEs.
