Sažetak
Starting from the diversification of the urban foodscape that has been taking place in Zagreb since the 2010s, this paper focuses on the phenomenon of OPG (family farm) shops. Alongside markets and supermarkets, which represent the main sites of everyday food provisioning, a number of small shops whose offer is based on domestic, locally produced foodstuffs have emerged, aiming to meet consumers’ demands for healthy and high-quality food of known origin. Between spring and autumn 2024, we conducted a small-scale, locally focused study to contextualize the emergence and operation of such shops, explore the business models and concepts underpinning their functioning, and identify their place within narratives of alternative food practices. The challenges faced by the owners and/or founders of these shops were explored primarily through in-depth interviews.
