Sažetak

Integrative bioethics represents a philosophically grounded concept of bioethics, which in the methodological aspect is determined by the concept of pluriperspectivism, while in the subject aspect it refers to the whole of life and the totality of the conditions for its maintenance. The beginnings of the idea of integrative bioethics can be found on the one hand in the project “Nutzenkultur vs. Normenkultur: Zu den intrakulturellen Differenzen in der westlichen Bioethik” (Ruhr University Bochum, leaders Walter Schweidler and Thomas Sören Hoffmann) and on the other hand in the project “Bioethics and Philosophy” (University of Zagreb, leader Ante Čović), as well as in the bioethical discussion that was taking place in Croatia at that time. In cooperation of these projects, the conference entitled Bioethik in Süd- und Südosteuropa. Chancen einer integrativen ethischen Reflexion vor dem Hintergrund intrakultureller Differenzen in Europa was organized (Dubrovnik, September 1–3, 2004), which brought together bioethicists from Germany, Austria, Italy and the countries of Southeast Europe (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania and Greece). At the conference, which can be considered the birthplace of integrative bioethics, the synergistic effect of the initial integrative-bioethical impulses came to the fore, from which the idea of integrative bioethics was born, which in the next two decades will develop into a school of integrative thinking. In the conversation with the founding fathers of integrative bioethics, issues related to the origin, development and future of integrative bioethics and numerous issues from its thematic repertoire are discussed.
