Overview of Achievements in the Use of Remote Sensing Material from UAV for Monitoring and Detecting the State of Landslides

Sažetak

Over the past two decades, unmanned aerial vehicles have become one of the basic methods of landslide observation. The paper provides an overview of the achievements of the current remote sensing materials from drones for landslide monitoring and detection. UAVs, with all their sensors and in combination with other observation methods, enable the monitoring and detection of landslide conditions. During observation, data on spatial changes and temporal dynamics, as well as the reactions of landslides and geological structures over time, are collected. The review paper describes the roles and methods of different types of unmanned aerial vehicles and RGB, LIDAR and SAR sensors. The role of UAVs in the possibilities of data collection, mapping and modeling is described. The data enable the monitoring of spatial evolution over time, which more closely depicts the dynamic processes of landslides. The role of observations and data in emergency scenarios and the possibilities of automatic and semi-automatic detection using machine learning algorithms are also described. The discussion describes the need to combine different observation methods in order to create 3D models of landslides as soon as possible after their occurrence and so that they can be monitored with spatial and temporal components.
