Sažetak
The emergence and development of digital solutions in production processes were the basis for the development of Industry 3.0 in the middle of the last century. The complete digital transformation of production systems took place in parallel with the emergence and development of Industry 4.0. The digital transformation of production systems directly affected changes in social and economic systems in the communities where the process took place. The fourth industrial revolution, which preceded the development of Industry 4.0, was based on the development of technological solutions that enabled the digital transformation
of production, and established completely new social and economic relations. Industry 4.0 brought on automation, robotization and cooperation of applications and machines, which greatly facilitated work and reduced production costs. In a large number of manufacturing industries, the platform economy model was developed, which introduced a completely new cost calculation model, since the zero marginal cost of the platform economy is lower than the smallest cost of economies of scale in industrial production. The aim of this paper is to investigate and analyse the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 and to analyse
the fundamental factors of similarities and differences between these two production models. Industry 5.0 is a response to threats from the environment that Industry 4.0 could not successfully overcome, by coordinating people and machines, and by introducing human work into part of the production processes, the human component that was neglected in Industry 4.0 is compensated.
