Abstract

The article describes the complex situation in which the Croatian Czechs found themselves after World War II. On the political front, the construction of new institutions and the introduction of the communist system at all levels of society were crucial. The phenomenon of reemigration had the greatest impact and significantly impoverished the Czech minority, as many prominent individuals ceased to be active in the life of the minority, while the minority itself was left without a good part of its members. The decisive event that changed relations between Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, but also led to the interruption of reemigration, was the Tito-Stalin conflict after the Informbiro resolution, a conflict that alienated two previously friendly countries that had cooperated on several levels and made ties with their homeland difficult or impossible for members of the Croatian Czechs for many years.
