Sažetak
The paper examines the role of feminism and feminist pedagogy in (higher) education through the case of the Faculty of Political Science, starting from the assumption that feminist perspectives can contribute to a better understanding of social relations and to more inclusive teaching. The aim is to explore how students and lecturers understand feminism, how interested they are in feminist topics, to what extent feminist perspectives are represented in teaching, and whether the principles of feminist pedagogy are applied in the classroom. The research was conducted using a survey method on a convenience sample of 156 students and 44 lecturers from the political science and journalism study programmes, and was complemented by four semi-structured interviews. The results indicate a relatively high level of interest and predominantly positive attitudes towards feminism, particularly among female students and more liberal and less religious respondents, while at the same time revealing insufficient knowledge of certain concepts and the selective presence of feminist content in teaching. The findings also show ambivalent experiences and differences in interest and motivation for feminist content between students and lecturers, as well as a reliance on the individual initiatives of particular lecturers. The paper contributes to a better understanding of the role of feminism in the curriculum and pedagogical practices and provides an empirical basis for the development of more gender-sensitive teaching strategies as well as for future research in the field of higher education.
