Sažetak

The theatre play A Night with Alex (premiered on 27 October 2022 at the HNK Mostar)
by director Ivica Buljan is an example of contemporary theatre that combines intermediality and metatheatrical procedures, creating a complex performance network that includes text, sound, images and physical theatre. Through fragmentary narration and multimedia interventions, the play subverts traditional theatre form and invites the audience to actively reflect on the nature of theatre and art. This paper analyses the key characteristics of the play in the context of postdramatic theatre, with a special emphasis on Brecht’s principles of alienation, which Buljan adapts in a contemporary setting, suggesting that »A Night with Alex” successfully challenges the conventional boundaries of the theatre experience and creates space for multiple readings.
