The relationship between organizational culture and job satisfaction in Croatian leasing companies

Abstract
Given the prominent role of organizational culture (OC) in the financial services sector, this paper analyzes the relationship between OC and job satisfaction in Croatian leasing companies. Studies by a number of authors confirm the influence of the work environment and the level of motivation on job satisfaction as a mediating variable. The research topic of this paper was also chosen due to the increasing importance of services and business activities of leasing companies, which in the Republic of Croatia show a constant increase in assets, number and value of new contracts. The aim of the paper is to examine the extent to which the dimensions of OC – change management, goal achievement, teamwork coordination, customer orientation and cultural strength – are related to the level of employee job satisfaction. The empirical research was conducted in 2024 on a sample of 150 employees from 15 leasing companies via an online questionnaire. OC was measured with an adapted version of the OCAQ instrument, while job satisfaction was assessed with adapted items from the Spector’s JSS model. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis were applied. The results show a statistically significant positive relationship between all dimensions of organizational culture and job satisfaction, with cultural strength standing out as the strongest predictor. The findings suggest that strengthening shared values and the quality of internal communication and support for change may be associated with a higher level of employee satisfaction.
