Sažetak

This paper traces the nearly century-long intellectual
journey connecting Einstein’s critique of
quantum mechanics with the emergence of modern
quantum information science and quantum computing.
Beginning with the 1935 EPR (Einstein–Podolsky–
Rosen) paradox, it follows the development
of Bell’s theorem, the experimental confirmation of
quantum entanglement, the discovery of anyons and
generalized quantum statistics, the role of Chern–Simons
topology, the theory of quon algebras, and the
rise of topological quantum computation. Particular attention is devoted to the paper Anyons
as Quon Particles (Bardek, Dorešić, and Meljanac,
1994), which explored an operator-algebraic
description of anyons and investigated the relationship
between topology and generalized operator
structures. From today’s perspective, this paper may
be viewed as an early attempt to connect topological
concepts with quantum information through algebraic
methods.
The paper further examines Alexei Kitaev’s introduction
of topological protection and quantum
error correction, the development of the surface
code as the leading fault-tolerant architecture, and
John Martinis’s pioneering contributions to superconducting
quantum processors. The concluding
chapters discuss recent work by Francesco Toppan
on braided Majorana qubits and its conceptual links
with generalized statistics and topological quantum
information.
The central thesis of the book is that seemingly
disparate fields – quantum foundations, entanglement,
anyons, topology, generalized statistics, and
quantum computation – form a coherent conceptual
narrative in which information gradually emerges
as one of the fundamental organizing principles of
modern physics.
