Sažetak

In this text the author discusses the crisis of European education
from a philosophical viewpoint. First he indicates that a crisis
is not only a state which one can find oneself in, but that it has
increasingly become the most significant source of philosophical
and scientific thought. The debate on the crisis of education started
abreast with the first findings of the crisis of European sciences
and culture, as presented by Nietzsche, Husserl and
Scheler. Based on considerations of certain hypotheses appearing
at the time, especially the Neo-Kantian establishment of pedagogy,
the author points out three key characteristics of the crisis
of education, while the third one is separately analyzed in the context
of practical philosophy, Le. of spiritual sciences. It is a question
of separating educational subject-matter, of the division of
knowledge, a matter of disregarding transcendental and categorical
pre-suppositions of knowledge and of fundamental differentiation
between teaching and upbringing. The task of practical philosophy
is to interpret the crisis of education as a challenge to
philosophical thought, as a mode of bringing into doubt the established
paradigms of scientific thought and of searching for new
paradigms of knowledge and action. If we interpret education in
this sense, then it will certainly fulfill its new-age role - the self-realization
of humanity and the establishment of an enlightened or
scientific community.
