Sažetak

The ancient Egyptians paid particular respect to one dung beetle, Scarabaeus sacer. The Franch resercher Cambefort (1987)suggests that it was the scarab that gave to the Egyptians the idea of mummification. Like the scarab’s nest resembled the burial chamber in which the pupa/mummy awaits its solar „resurection”, the Egyptians were believed that the dead into mummies awaits
its solar resurection, too. In second part it is studied the existence of sacre scarab in Croatia.
