Abstract

Education today represents a key factor in the social, economic, and cultural development of every country. The vision of the future directly shapes education and the concept of the school of the future. This paper aims to examine the contemporary challenges facing the teaching profession within the context of educational system transformations, and to identify the key teacher competencies required for the education of the future. Employing a qualitative, theoretical-analytical methodology — specifically a narrative systematic literature review and conceptual analysis of futurological, policy, and empirical sources — the study synthesizes evidence from international frameworks. The paper makes three specific contributions: it establishes a precise conceptual and paradigmatic distinction between "the future in the school" and "the school of the future"; it systematizes the teacher competencies — digital, socio-emotional, and lifelong learning — essential for Education 4.0 and the emerging Education 5.0; and it formulates evidence-based recommendations for educational policy and teacher professional development in the transition toward future-oriented schooling.
