Abstract

The analysis of the phonetic structure of the hymns devoted to Mary that have been included in Kinč osebujni slavnoga orsaga horvackoga stresses the share of the textual microstructures in its functioning as a whole. For a pilgrimage text performed while pilgrims are walking, the rhythm, which is the result of periodic repetition of the same elements, is of an ultimate importance. The most obvious repetitions do occur at the levels of metric and lexis, but the analysis of the phonological elements shows that the speech sounds system within a unit functions as a strong rhythm-generating element.
Regarding the fact that these hymns fall into the realm of the verbal, the text is a result of some collective values: the intention of an individual is generated from the group he/she belongs to, from its poetics and world-view preferences that have existed as a part of heritage structures, namely the language itself in this case and the intention in turn testifies to them.
