Science and the public — a contemporary interaction

Abstract

Elements and characteristics of the transformation of modern science are considered, especially those which cover the aspect of the interaction between science and the public - current clashes between scientists and the causes of these clashes, the public orientation while assessing arguments used in clashes and while taking the corresponding viewpoints, the competence of scientists, particularly at the time of intensive fragmentation of science, democratization of science and the principle of precaution as necessary corrections of modern science. The relevance of the above-mentioned elements is applied to the model case - the oil pipeline integration project »Družba Adria«.
