Abstract

The investigation regarding defence walls at the site of
Popove Bare in Donji Grad is relevant for gaining insight
into the topographic plan of Narona. A visible fraction of the
defensive walls with a segment of appertaining tower has
been investigated at the eastern border of the mentioned
location of Popove Bare.
Ceramic finds which are discussed in this paper were
mostly imports, judging from their quality, composition
and production features. Some ceramic items are possibly
of local origin and these are mostly coarse kitchenware. We
are talking about finds dated from the 3rd century BC to the
7th century AD. Most numerous are the terra sigillata type of
ceramic ware preserved in fragments, amphorae lids and
amphorae rims and necks also preserved in fragments.
