Abstract

In the paper the fundamental relations of the sound theory are outlined. Especially it is pointed that in the liquid media, as it is sea water, sound waves are of the longitudinal form. It is shown that the velocity of sound waves propagation in the sea water is dependent (in an empirical manner) on the three parameters of the sea water: temperature, salinity and depth. So, an empirical relation for the sound velocity is shown as the numerical and graphical (nomogram) form.
