Abstract

Although there are many different attempts to understand the Bible,
it goes beyond the purpose of this article to describe these manifold attempts
and their results. However, we find it difficult to escape the conclusion,
at least in general terms, that the entire history of the
Christian church is the history of the interpretation of the Bible. This
observation only adds to the importance of proper foundations for understanding Scripture. In this article the author primarily discusses
the question of inspiration and concludes that all the methods or models of biblical interpretation are ultimately to be tested by the self-testimony of the Bible.
