Abstract
The goals and purpose of religious education in schools in Poland were discussed only when religious education was introduced in the schools (1990-1991). Perhaps this is why in the religious education lessons (which is identified with catechesis) particularly emphasize the doctrinal, liturgical, moral and ecclesiological aspects. The school is recognized as an area of pastoral ministry of the church and place of evangelization.
Social issues in the programs appear only as a general formulation, as seeking their own place in society, an opportunity to mention the Church's role in the life of the Polish people or as a rule of life in society. The influence of the Catholic faith on culture and social life is not sufficiently developed. Also, the relation between moral education and social education is deficient. It is noted that the curriculum of the Catholic religious education in Poland is insufficiently open to contemporary social issues, which reflect specific problems and concerns.
