Abstract

Statistical analysis of 532 houses was carried out including those that fit the definition of a Zagreb-style built-in apartment house in the period between 1935 and 1945. An average house of that type comprises two or three residential stories above the ground-floor level, one studio apartment and one one-bedroomed apartment to the staircase, a single-pitched roof to the street with a flat roof to the backyard as well as a strictly axially symmetrical front. Modern architectural tendencies had a profound effect on the façade composition of the Zagreb-style built-in apartment house.
