Abstract
The motive of this article is the first anniversary of the opening of The Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute which was founded on 3 October 2007 and solemnly inaugurated the same year on 6 November by the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić. The three main areas of the Institute's work are outlined: the formation of ecclesiastical officials and cooperators, which includes the permanent formation of young priests, pastoral formation of deacons, the formation of permanent deacons and the formation of lay students preparing for the ministry in the Church. Furthermore, the formation of families and dialogue with the modern world.
The Institute is certainly a direct result of the ongoing archdiocesan counselling sessions taking place in preparation for the Second Synod of the Archdiocese of Zagreb. The Institute has continued to carry out existing archdiocesan programs, some programs have begun during the pastoral year, whereas new programs in various areas will soon begin. The Institute, in its drive to become an instrument of the synodal renewal of the Archdiocese, already has a significant role within the local Church and society and with time it will certainly become stronger and more influential.
