Abstract

The writer quotes data showing the development of the dairy industry in Croatia. He describes the development of the livestock industry in the Republic which, for this purpose, he divides into two parts; the Northern plains and the Central and Southern mountainous area including the Adriatic coast with the Islands. In the Northern plains there are 480.000 cows, mainly Simmenthals, and from this area the greater part of the milk is sold to the dairy plants after the domestic needs of the producers have been satisfied. In the Central and Southern parts the number of dairy plants is limited and milk surpluses are mainly manufactured in the homes of the producers.
