Abstract

This paper examines the role and use of the Internet in political communication with special reference to the election for mayor of Zagreb in 2013. In addition to study of previous works on the subject, primary research was made. In it, the way in which the candidates for mayor of Zagreb elections 2013th were using the Internet was watched and judged. It was noted that most parties and candidates use the Internet only as a means of advertising (one-way communication) and not as a means of dialogue, conversation (two way communication). Because the Internet is communication tool that features the ability of two-way communication it is best used as a means to, jointly through dialogue with others, create the best political solution and consequently increase the electoral participation.
