Abstract

Today there is a variety of methods of teaching a foreign language that were created through the time. The circumstances in which a language lives are changing over time, and so does the language itself, and then the methods used while teaching it. Some of the most important methods of learning a foreign language are: grammar-translation method, direct (natural) method, audio-visual/audio-lingual method, intercultural approach. Each of them has positive and negative sides,
and today some of them are less motivating for teachers and students from others. The availability of new, modern and original materials in the teaching process of learning a foreign language is another factor that can greatly contribute to the motivation of both parties. The importance of each method and the fact that they must be creatively combined in designing a lesson in order to achieve optimal results in learning a foreign language should not be ignored.
