Abstract

School culture is defined as a relatively permanent quality of school environment which influences the behavior of its members, thus determining the overall way of life of school (Domović, 2004). Within that culture, didactic culture, as the area in which school culture is manifested, fi nds its own terrain by studying all that comes into a direct or indirect contact with the learning and teaching process. By following the curriculum precepts and directions, laws and strategies, as well as other acts that unmistakably stress the need for the childpupil to be brought, through the school and teaching process, to self-reliance in which the child-pupil will manifest the long developed competence, this work is directed towards interpersonal-cooperative-team relationships necessary for quality participation in the personal and social dimension of life, but also in the individual’s world of work, the relationships that appeared as the result of the direct work in teaching. Since cooperation today represents one of the competences necessary for catching up with the social, technological-technical and various other kinds of progress, this paper presents and interprets the research results that were related to the use of social forms of work in the teaching process. The social forms of work in the teaching process, meaning pair work and group work, represent the basis for cooperation as well as the potential for building team work. These social forms, if properly planned, structured and applied to the topics in which pupils recognize the functionality of their application, unquestionably lead to pupils’ growing interest and motivation, but also to a development of more cohesive and better quality interrelationships. The obtained results have been interpreted and a new perspective has been offered regarding the present orientation of specialized teachers towards the application of those social forms of work in the teaching process that directly enable the development of team work, which today to the fullest extent illustrates the quality and tendencies of contemporary school and teaching process.
