Abstract

The modern business environment is increasingly characterized by a need for creativity, innovation and risk-taking ability. In such conditions for business success, it is not enough to develop exclusively analytical and cognitive skills, but also to know how emotional intelligence can act as a trigger for the acquisition of competitive ability in business ventures. Emotional intelligence in business has a special importance in understanding of consumer behavior because needs and desires of customers become the focus of every successful entrepreneur. Consumer behavior is often influenced by the limbic part of the brain, not the neocortex, which means that emotions prevail in the purchase decision. This explains the importance of acceptance and development of emotional learning for the development of entrepreneurship in higher education institutions in the Republic of Croatia which is the subject of research work. The goal of emotional learning is the development and use of competencies that make EQ (emotional intelligence) in the business.
