Abstract
Recently, pedagogical studies have been more focused on the cultural context of education, values, customs, beliefs and behaviour patterns that determine it. It’s the determinants of educational cultural context that constitute the hidden curriculum, equal co-educator, who strongly affects the educational institution, collegiality, professionalism, self-determination, satisfaction, relationships, motivation and success. Determinants of hidden curriculum strongly influence overall school culture and make school recognizable. School culture and the hidden curriculum are difficult to detect and change, but studies are being directed to specific segments of curriculum in order to contribute to the discovery of quality of school culture, which directly or indirectly affects all participants of the education system.
The results of a study conducted among 696 primary school teachers in Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem, Brod-Posavina, Virovitica-Podravina and Požega-Slavonia county show teachers’ assessment about the culture of their own school. School culture in the Slavonian counties is positive, what stands out is the statistically significant difference in identifying the culture of elementary school, based on whether the teachers teach singular or multiple subjects.
