Abstract

This paper presents the results of breeding programme carried out in oats, barley, lupin and pea in Zagreb from 1974 till 1994. Newly developed spring oat cultivars, Vesna and Željka, have singificantly outyielded the standard Cultivars - Flemingsnova and Šampion. Newly developed cultivars of malting barley, Tomislav, Tvrtko and Saturn have singificantly higher yield and malting qualities than standard cultivars - Velebit and Berenice. Two newly developed cultivars of lupin, Zrinka and Maksimirska have significantly higher yield and protein quality than standard cultivar Bosna. Spring pea cultivar Šampion (grains used as animal feed) has higher grain yield and protein content than the standard cultivar Timo. Newly developed cultivars of oat, barley, lupin and peas are the great achievement in Croatian seed production.
