ECONOMIC VALUE OF WHEAT VARIETIES AT DIFFERENT TIME OF HARVEST

Abstract
The investigations were carried out by field experiments at the locality of Oborovo in 1993/94 and 1994/95 on the hydromeliorate vertic amphygley soil (Vidaček et. al., 1993). Five winter wheat varieties were investigated in four different harvest dates: Adriana, Superzlatna, Marija, Sana and Olga; when grain moisture was 23- 25%, 18-20%, about 15% and 7 days after third harvest date. The two-factorial experiments were set by split-block method in five repetitions. In the two-year experiment Marija and Sana varieties had the highest yield, whereas Supezlatna variety had the lowest one. When the harvest was only few days late, there was no significant reduction in grain yield. But when the time of harvest from the first to the fourth period was delayed for 15 days in 1994, the grain yield decreased for 7.0%. Likewise, when in 1995 from the second to the fourth harvest date there was 11-day delay, the grain yield decreased for 9.3%. As good combine performance was impeded by a heavy shower the day before, in the first harvest date of 1995 the grain yield was 7.3% lower than that in the second harvest date. Olga, the variety characterized by big spike, highest production per spike and the smallest number of spikes per m² had the highest grain field reduction (13.5%) from 1st to 4th harvest date in 1994 and (10,6%); from 2nd to 4th date in 1995. Adriana, the variety of the lowest production per spike and the highest number of spikes per m² had the lowest grain yield reduction (5.3%) in 1994 white in 1995, the reduction was not statistically significant. Although the harvest periods were delayed, Adriana happened to be the most stable variety as far as the grain yield was concerned. Reduction 1000 kernel weight in 1994 caused significant grain yield reduction, while Hectolitre weight reduction caused the same in 1994 and 1995.
