VEGETATIVE ROOTSTOCKS FOR MODERN APPLE ORCHARDS

Abstract

The characteristic of dwarf apple rootstocks used in the modern high-density orchard has been described on the basis of actual literature data. A description is given about new dwarfing apple rootstocks obtained in England, Germany, Poland, Czech Repubiic, Sweden, Canada, USA and Russia. Particular attention was paid to M.9 rootstock and it's clones, which is at present time standard rootstock for apple growing in high density. In addition comparison of some new rootstocks promising as potential alternative to M.9 was done.
