Abstract

The purpose of this research was to establish susceptibility - tolerance of the particular line group and sugarbeet hybrids to Cercospora Leaf Spot. The research is conducted in artificial and natural infection conditions through root yield and quality, and visual valuations of leaves damage. In research were included 39 genotypes that were sown in the two field experiments (artificial and natural infection) in Osijek 1997. lt was established that additional (artificial) infection did not reduce root yield, but sugar content and theil- recovery were significantly reduced, what caused significantly reduction of sugar yield. The artificial infection, in group of tolerant materials to cercospora did not additionaly damage leaves, but in susceptible group damage of leaves were remarkably higher than in natural infection. Toward evaluation, groups of material are rated from tolerant to susceptible: LSR (leaf spot resistant line) m-4x (tetraploid female lines), p-4x (tetraploid pollinator lines) m-cms (cms female lines), p-2x (diploid pollinator lines), hybrids and LSS (leaf spot susceptible line).
