Abstract
In the laboratory of the Agriculture faculty in Osijek, statistically very significant correlation were found between storage longevity (five investigation years) and seed germinability of alfa-alfa seeds and fodder peas seeds. Seeds of above mentioned species were stored in glass hermetic containers by air temperature 20ᵒC and relative humidity 65%. Moisture level in stored seeds has been 9%. The investigations were showed that sprouting energy by alfa-alfa and fodder peas seeds were in negative correlation with storage longevity. Sprouting energy have achieved the greatest values before seed storage (alfa-alfa 90,50% and fodder peas 94,00%). Also, after 5 years hermetic storage, sprouting energy have achieved the smallest values (alfa-alfa 69,75% and fodder peas 74,25%). Between investigated years, demonstrated differences in sprouting energy were statistically very significant (P<0,01). Similar results were achieved by investigations of seed germinability. According results, the largest values of seed germinability have had the seeds before storage (95,25%). Also, after 5 years hermetic storage seed germinability have achieved the smallest values (alfa-alfa 71,50% and fodder peas 78,75%). Between investigated years, demonstrated differences in seed germinability were statistically very significant (P<0,0 1 ). The investigations were showed that fodder peas seeds have had greater values of sprouting energy and germinability, than alfa-alfa seeds. The demonstrated differences between mentioned species were statistically very significant for sprouting energy (P<0,01) and statistically significant for germinability (P<0,05).
