Abstract
Rapid growth and development of cities and the level of motorization have led to the fact that transport increasingly fails to fulfi l the basic requests necessary to societies in urban areas such as speed,
comfort and economically acceptable transport of passengers and goods. With the emphasised and increased awareness we aspire to have sustainable development of cities which promotes common
means of transport and public city services. Zadar is one of the numerous cities faced with such obstacles. The city of Zadar, situated on the east coastal area of the Adriatic Sea, is a tourist city that
has signifi cantly higher load on public regular services and the city traffi c network, especially during summer and the problem of critical locations in traffi c infrastructure becomes even more evident.
Inadequately equipped and located stops, as much as the character of one part of existing regular services, reduces the number of users and attractiveness of public passenger transport. A noticeable increase in the number of users could be achieved by application of adequate measures and procedures towards modernization of public transport infrastructure and usage of ICT technologies within the system itself. Public city transport could be of greater quality and available to everybody under the same conditions and it could be a match to individual transport.
