Attitudes of parents preschool children on key competences that are important for the future child success

Abstract
National curriculum for early and pre-school education is encouraged and strengthened through development of eight core competencies for lifelong learning. This paper examines the attitudes of parents of preschool children on key competences important to the future child success . The aim of this study was to determine which of the competencies parents considered important. The goal is based on the assumption that the attitudes of parents are focused on the academic achievement of children and competences that the child is capable for a successful start in school. The topic of the research is to examine the frequency of the execution of certain activities related to competence. The results show that most parents develop their children’s mathematical and scientific competence and socio -demographic data such as the education of parents and the child’s age affecting the competence development of the child.
