Abstract

The aim of the study was to find a correlation between work burnout, emotional competence andtwo job characteristics: social support at work and ability of control at work. We have examineda sample of 112 female preschool teachers from four kindergartens in Zagreb. We have tried todetermine the correlation: among work burnout and emotional competence; among emotionalcompetence and two job characteristics (social support at work and ability of control at work);among work burnout and two job characteristics. We have used instruments: a Questionnaire fortesting the perception and experience of work and Emotional competence questionnaire UEK-45. The results showed no statistically significant correlations between emotional competenceand experience burnout at work, as well as between emotional competence and some jobcharacteristics (perceived social support and the ability of control on the work). We havefound a statistically significant positive correlation between experience of work burnout andtwo job characteristics. However, it is crucial to note that they all found statistically significantcorrelations are actually very low.
