Abstract

Modern cultural everyday life is essentially image- and film-centric. The authors of new Croatian prose, writers at the age of thirty to sixty, grew up with the popular film culture. They were active witnesses of its growth and development and it is quite expected that, in the global culture of transfer and interference, it is also felt in their works. This selection of Croatian prose-writers and their works is based on the provocation of the critical consciousness of the author of this work. Therefore, only the works satisfying by their refined esthetic level have been chosen for the interpretation, where a part of this refinement is also the paraphrasing of film culture, mostly that of Hollywood. The mechanisms of taking over the film aspects in literary works rely mostly to reminiscences and analogies, with sporadically explicit citations.
