Abstract

Antonymy is defined as lexical-semantic category based on opposite meaning off two units. It is important characteristic of the language used in the medieval texts so in that context, antonymia is documented on historical level. Based on the mutual semantically relationship, there are gradual, complementary and vector antonyms. Antonyms with opposite basic semantic realizations are thought as real antonyms, but if only their secondary semantic realizations are in opposition, they are thought as quasi-antonims. In stylistic usage of antonyms, the creativity of Slavic translators and the expresivity of the language can be noticed.
