Abstract

This paper presents the analyses of 6 different models of glulam (glued laminated) timber girders whose dimensions are determined for the same maximal stresses on a 24-metre span. The goal is to determine a complex area of stresses that occur in the timber girders depending on their form. The form considerably affects the stresses in the girders. The analyses therefore highlight the importance of an appropriate design. Another goal of this research is to minimize the quantity of the materials needed to control a particular span resulting in a cheaper structure.

Keywords
