Abstract

By contextualization of entrepreneurship, the process of entrepreneurship is dimensioned in space and time. Through space and time dimensions, entrepreneurship researchers have been enabled to respond in a specific way to some fundamental research issues related to the entrepreneurial process – such as: who, why, how, where, when and how successful? Contextualization of entrepreneurship enables a better understanding not only of how the context affects entrepreneurship, either in terms of constraints or in terms of opportunity, but also in terms of feedback - the possibilities of entrepreneurship to change the context. Benefits of the contextualizing entrepreneurship in this sense can be dual - it benefits not only entrepreneurship researchers, as a means of improving their future research on the nature and contribution of entrepreneurial activities in a more comprehensive way, but also for practitioners who have so far shown modest interest for scientific entrepreneurship works comparing to the other areas of economic research – by contextualization of
entrepreneurial research, the results of these researches are more focused but not generalized. This paper aims to present and explore recent literature dealing with the contextualization of entrepreneurship, especially considering the directions and guidelines that these sources could have for researchers of entrepreneurship in specific contexts, such
as the Western Balkans region.
