Abstract

The paper addresses the issue of brownfields - previously used but now the abandoned areas, their repurposing as well as the new and sustainable modes of their reuse. The concept of the brownfield as well as their regeneration and reuse is here addressed and thoroughly explained. The paper points out the inconsistent use of the term brownfield and offers possible classification of the brownfields based on various criteria. Success factors in brownfield redevelopment projects are also analyzed.
