Abstract
The media has a strong influence on people’s consciousness and the way they experience the world around them. As the media landscape changes quickly and often, shifting the emphasis from traditional to newer media, they become an even more prominent channel for delivering news and other content intended to occupy the attention of consumers in order to attract and retain. Due to the pandemic crisis, many content creators, media houses and brands, found themselves in an unprecedented situation. In the short term, they had to redefine their role and also find a new way to monetize their content. When asked how to operate responsibly in a situation where there is no reference event by which strategies and protocols can be proposed, the responsibility and importance of the media become all the greater. Recent research shows new patterns of use of certain media channels in circumstances marked by uncertainty and fear. The aim of this paper is to analyse the effects of the pandemic crisis on the use of the media, while critically evaluating its importance in everyday information. The results of the pandemic effects analysis can help to better understand and provide useful guidance for dealing with similar situations.
