Abstract

The aim of this paper is to compare the business results of Comcast and Netflix corporations. Comcast is the largest global vertically integrated media corporation and uses all the management models of the old media industries. Comcast is in the process of transformation and is using evaluation and takeover strategies to develop competitive strategies in new media industries. Netflix is the largest and leading streaming platform for video distribution. The changes brought about by postmodern and post-industrial society have had a significant effect on changes in management practices in already existing media industry corporations. Research and analysis of the business results of these two corporations points to changes taking place within the media industry. Existing vertically integrated media corporations are changing management models to adapt to new market circumstances. New media corporations, created in the platform economy model, define the conditions and development trends of the entire media industry. Postmodern and post-industrial society requires a significant change in managerial practices in the media industry.
