Abstract

The producer’s role in the process of creating a film is often not taken seriously enough, and many times is misinterpreted, even by the
film industry itself. It can be said that only in recent history has our region adopted the Western model in the approach to film realization. A model
in which the producer is assigned one of the most important roles, which requires strong engagement, full commitment and clearly defined responsibilities.
This paper researches that role and considers all the significant segments that it covers as well as the producers contribution to the film.
The first part discusses the characteristics of film production and the producer, as well as the differentiation between theater and film production.
With a real-life example, specifically a case of a feature film, it provides an insight into all the production elements during creation. The second
part of this paper analyses the data gathered through surveys and in-depth interviews, and goes on to show very clearly the extent to which the producer’s
profession is recognized as being relevant and what it means both from the perspective of associates and the end users, that is the film’s audience.
