Abstract
Climate change influences yields and quality of products, costs of production and consequently business results on farm. Currently, there are many limitations in the application of adaptation and mitigation measures. The goal of this paper is to research limiting factors in farmers’ adaptation to climate change. The research was conducted by an online survey on a convenient sample of 275 farmers from the Adriatic Region in Croatia. Descriptive statistics and factor analysis have been used in the analysis of results. Principal component analysis was done on 12 statements about limitations in climate change adaptation. Four limiting factors have been detected. Enabling environment for knowledge and innovation transfer, development of insurance and legal framework explains the limitation in the most. Irrigation, financial means and lack of resources (human and capital) follow. Future research should be directed toward understating farmers’ behaviour faced with risk and uncertainty, and creating innovative risk management strategies for coping with climate risk.
