Abstract

The article analyzes Serhiy Zhadan's novel Voroshilovgrad in the aspect of postcolonial migrant literature, the main narratives of which refer to the idea of location and dislocation, rooting and eradication. In particular, the study focuses on social and individual memory of the last Soviet generation, which appears as a palimpsest, the theme of rooting into one's „own territory“, as well as transnational migration in the borderland of Donbass. The situation of global migration is studied in connection with the phenomenon of Orientalism, transnational migration, and transit culture.
