Abstract

The goal of the article is to single out chief tendencies characteristic of Ukrainian poetical discourse at the turn of the 21st century. Special attention is given to depiction of the identification processes in the works that belong to the representatives of the 1990s literary generation and “the millennials”.
In the 1980s and 1990s Ukrainian cultural consciousness went through a considerable transformation which was the result of external cultural and political changes (the Chernobyl disaster and Ukraine’s Independence declaration) and internal causes of the creative literary development connected with the situation of fin de siècle.
Controversial cultural contexts shaped the peculiarities of stylistic searches and processes of self-identification in the Ukrainian poetry at the turn of the century through auto-reflection and the artist’s individualization as an expression of the unity of the self in a fragmented world.
