Abstract

The aim of this paper is to point out the changes that have affected the music industry under the influence of the digital transformation of the production and distribution process. The digitalization of the production process has changed the way of generating revenue in all types of industries and has caused dramatic changes in the way of management. The music industry, as a segment of the media industry, has completely changed the way music content is distributed. By digitizing the production process, conditions have been created for the distribution of music numbers outside the classic “brick-and-mortar” record stores. With the digital transformation of the production process and the use of platform economy models, the music industry has completely transformed. Music streaming platform Spotify is the leader of a new managerial paradigm in the distribution and consumption of music content. The distribution of music content in the subscription model on the streaming platform was the basis on which the term spotification was developed, which means the distribution of content on streaming platforms.
