Abstract

The curriculum of history as a subject covers the history of Croatia from the end of the First World War to the beginning of the 21st century. As students know people who lived in the socialist Yugoslavia, oral history is used for analyzing this part of the curriculum. Students, in the role of examiners, collect oral history on the basis of a previously prepared interview, but they also design questions themselves and write their own review of the interview. The collected oral memories are used in teaching when analyzing this part of the curriculum. The application of oral history by students stimulates interest in studying history because they themselves participate in the collection of historical sources. Oral history is an important source for 20th century history. 8th grade students (2014-2021) participated in the collection of oral history.
