Abstract
The French twelfth-century roman curtois is a great source of European literature, known also to the South-Slavic nations since the Middle Ages. However, it was not until the early twenty-first century that a translation in octosyllable appeared, when Kolja Mićević published translations of Perceval and Lancelot, the novels written by the famous Chretien de Troyes. In addition to the existing translations of Tristan and Iseut, Mićević made it possible for our researchers and scholars to learn about the inaugural stage in the history of the novel in its original meter – octosyllable. This paper analyses the importance of paratextual elements of translation – titles, subtitles, preface, afterword and footnotes provided by the translator. The aim of this research is to use paratextual information to reveal the translator as a collocutor of Chrétiena de Troyes and to emphasize the contribution made by Mićević as a medievalist through these extremely important translations.
